Edward E. “Ed” Cook
September 20, 1946 ‒ November 25, 2013
Mount Gilead, Ohio
Edward E. “Ed” Cook, age 67, of Mount Gilead, passed away Monday morning, November 25, 2013, at his residence following an extended illness.
Ed was born in West Portsmouth, OH, on September 20, 1946, to the late Edward R. and Persis J. (Craigmiles) Cook. He attended Linden- McKinley High School where he graduated in the class of 1964.
On August 13, 1968, Ed married Sandra J. Phillips in Clintwood, Virginia. Together they shared 45 years of marriage.
Ed worked for many years as a warehouse lead man and union representative for the Big- Bear/ Hart Company. He retired from Big- Bear in 1990.
Ed loved living at Candlewood Lake. He served the community of Candlewood as President of the Association and President of the Garden Club. After serving his terms as president he would still participate by spending any free time helping wherever he could.
He will be remembered by his friends and family for his great sense of humor and his often blunt but caring ways. When Ed wasn’t helping in his community you could find him at the lake fishing, mowing the grass, or tending to his garden.
Ed will be dearly missed by his wife Sandy of Mount Gilead; three daughters: Shannon (Brian) Capers of Hilliard, OH, Heather Brokaw of Gahanna, OH, and Tina (Reece) Clemens of Worthington, OH; and three grandchildren: Maddie Matos, Troy Capers, and Elizabeth Clemens.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Judi.
A memorial service will be held at Candlewood Lake’s main lodge, Friday, December 13, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Morrow County, 228 South St., Mount Gilead, OH 43338.
