Edna E. Dolland, 89, of Galion died Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at Magnolia Terrace. Mrs. Dolland was born in Jay City, Alabama on April 19, 1921 to the late Grover McLain and Roxie Porter McLain. She married Joseph F. Dolland on September 11, 1948, having met in 1944 during World War II.
Mrs. Dolland graduated from Pontotoc, Miss. High School in 1939, and from the University of Rhode Island in 1943. She was a member of the Lambda Beta Chapter of the Chi Omega Sorority. The Dollands moved to Galion in 1958. Mrs. Dolland taught in the Business Department of the Galion High School and retired in 1981. She became a Realtor in 1982 and was associated with the HER Fred Barr Realty Co. for many years. Mrs. Dolland was active in both the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts as her own children were growing up. She was a member of St. Joseph Church in Galion.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, four daughters and spouses, Deanna and Maxey Massey, Mt. Juliet, Tenn., David and Diane Dolland, Galion, Debra and Dennis Leader, Mt. Gilead, Roxie Dolland, Tucson, Ariz., Denise and Mike Harris, Mt. Juliet, Tenn., ten grandchildren, Hillary Savley, Adam Massey, Alexander Leader, Janel Leader, Brenda Engelman, Matthew Dolland, Christopher Dolland, Sean Mott, Drew Harris, Haley Harris; four great grandchildren, Adeline Savley, Noah Savley, Evelyn Leader, Samuel Massey, and special friend Barbara “Bo” Day.
She was preceded in death by her husband, son Joseph Jr., three sisters and a brother.
Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday December 19, 2010 at the Richardson-Davis Funeral Home, Galion. A Funeral Service of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday December 20, 2010 at the Richardson-Davis Funeral Home, Galion, with Fr. Tony Borgia, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Galion.
