MANSFIELD: Edith May Armstrong, age 86, of Sequoia Lane, Mansfield, and formerly of Columbus, died Tuesday morning June 5, 2001, in Lexington Court Care Center following a six-month illness.

She was born January 27, 1915 in Malad, ID, to Tom & Estella Parker Hess.

A devoted stay-at-home mom, grandmother and great grandmother, she was a founding member of Trinity Assembly of God in Columbus and Evangel Temple Assembly of God in Gahanna. A church pianist and organist, Edith ministered to many hundreds of children as Sunday School teacher and Children’s Church Director.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Saundra & David Cassell of Mansfield; son and daughter-in-law David G. & Deloris Armstrong of Austin, TX; son-in-law Art Watterman of Gahanna; Grandchildren Brian & Aimee Cassell; Bruce & Sandra Cassell, Renee and Julia Armstrong, Gary, Stephanie and Ashley Watterman and Michael Fouts; Great Grandchildren Brandon Fouts, Joshua and Evan Cassell, and Alyssa Renae Armstrong; three brothers and sisters-in-law Clifford & Marge Hess of Auburn, CA, Tom & Virginia Hess of Santa Ana, CA, Jerry & Judy Hess of Norco, CA; two sisters and a brother-in-law Mabel Clark of Lakewood, CA, and Opal & Ted Dilley of Paradise, CA.

She was preceded in death by her husband George Armstrong; a daughter Gayla Watterman; a sister Gayle Oldenberger; and a brother-in-law Jack Clark.

The Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements. Friends may call Sunday June 10, 2001, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm and Monday June 11 from 9 am until 10 am in Schoedinger Funeral Home, 1051 East Johnstown Road, Gahanna (614-939-4558), where the funeral service will follow at 10 am. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
