Edith Mae Weaver, age 96, of Mount Gilead, died peacefully on Friday evening, May 26, 2006, surrounded by her family at her residence.

She was born in Cardington, Ohio, on December 29, 1909, the daughter of the late Lou Terry and Lula (Ault) Terry Kinnamon. A lifelong Morrow County resident, Edith Mae graduated from Mount Gilead High School in the Class of 1928.

Shortly after graduation, Edith Mae married her loving husband of over 58 years, Lawrence E. Weaver, on November 20, 1932, in Trinity United Methodist Church by Rev. Corwin. Lawrence preceded her in death on July 13, 1990.

As Lawrence’s Assistant Manager, together they ran Weaver’s I.G.A., where she assisted in all facets of the business.

The eldest living member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Edith Mae joined in 1923. She also was a member of United Methodist Women, the Senior Progress Club, the Order of the Eastern Star, and Morrow County Hospital Silver Twig.

With a passion for traveling, Edith Mae and her family went on many vacations; some of her favorite trips were to Lake George, New York. Lawrence and Edith Mae were avid Airstreamers. They traveled the United States and Canada. Their winters were spent in Florida. She also enjoyed crocheting, making crafts, and golfing.

A homemaker first, Edith Mae lived for the moments she shared with her family. For the holidays, everyone would “congregate” at Edith Mae’s house and around her table. Her children and grandchildren were truly her pride and joy.

Left to cherish her memory are her two sons Don (Jackie) Weaver of Mount Gilead, and Larry (Sharon) Weaver of Kenton; a daughter Charlottle (Dick) West of Mount Gilead; and 10 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Edith Mae was preceded in death by her son Gerald Weaver; step-father Scott Kinnamon; daughter-in-law Gloria Weaver; grandson James Weaver; and two sisters Mildred and Ruth Terry.
