Edith K. Mottayaw
May 15, 1913 ‒ November 26, 2005
MANSFIELD: Edith K. Mottayaw, 92, of Piper Road, Mansfield, died Saturday morning November 26, 2005 in Samaritan Regional Health System, Ashland following a short illness.
She was born May 15, 1913 in Weller Township of Richland County, to Phillip and Minnie Mawhorr, attended Weller Township High School, and was a lifelong Richland County resident.
In December of 1935 she married Clark Mottayaw, who preceded her in death in 1993.
Edith had worked as a cook in the cafeteria of Madison Schools for more than 20 years, yet was primarily a homemaker. She delighted in looking after her grandchildren, then the great grandchildren, always filling the home with sweet aromas of baked goods…and the children’s favorite: a fresh pan of brownies.
Edith was a member of Oakland Lutheran Church, and the Altar Guild of the church.
When weather permitted, she enjoyed tending to her flower gardens and rose beds.
She is survived by a son Wesley Mottayaw of Mansfield, a son and daughter-in-law Alan and Sharon Mottayaw of Dublin; grandchildren Michael and Kristen Mottayaw, Scott Mottayaw, and Lynn and Sam Benavides; ten great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law Dale and Dorothy Mawhorr of Mansfield; a brother-in-law Milo Cocanour of Mansfield; a sister-in-law Rosella Mottayaw of Phoenix, Arizona; many nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by nine siblings.
The family will receive friends Monday, November 28, 2005 from 6-8 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where the funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10 am. The Rev. Paul Lintern will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions to Oakland Lutheran Church may be made at the funeral home.
