Earl D. Jordan, Jr.
March 13, 1938 ‒ May 14, 2004
Earl D. Jordan, Jr., 67, of Haywood Drive, Mansfield, died Friday morning May 14, 2004 in his home following an apparent heart attack.
He was born March 13, 1938 in Mansfield to Earl D., Sr. and Blanche V. (Thomas) Jordan, was graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1956 and remained a lifelong Mansfield resident.
Earl had served with the U. S. Marine Corps Reserves.
He had worked as a machinist, first with American Electric, and later with The Mansfield Tire and Rubber Company until his retirement.
As a member of the Mansfield Electronic Flyers Club, Earl spent hours operating his remote controlled planes. He was also a former member of Venus Lodge F & AM, and stayed active keeping up with the antics of his brother’s Terrier Gidget.
An avid golfer, Earl applied his machinist skills to the game and made golf clubs, and even darts in his basement.
Quiet and unpretentious, he enjoyed fishing, spending time on his brother’s pontoon boat on Mifflin Lake, and maintaining a pristine yard around his home.
He is survived by his wife Nancy J. (Young) Jordan, whom he married October 9, 1965; his brother and sister-in-law Richard and Margaret Jordan of Ontario; two sisters Norma Jean Douville of Mansfield and Dorothy Algire of Sebring, Florida; twelve nieces and nephews and 24 great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Sunday, May 16, 2004 from 2-6 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where the funeral service will be held Monday at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park, where the Richland County Joint Veterans Council will hold graveside military honors.
