E. Pauline MacLean, age 75, of Mount Vernon, died Wednesday July 14, 2004 at the Laurels of Mount Vernon following an extended illness. Mrs. MacLean was born November 3, 1928 in Niles, Ohio to Emanuel and Grace (White) Koconis. She was an active officer for the Salvation Army from 1952 to 1967. From 1967 until 2003 Mrs. MacLean and her husband Rev. C. Frederick MacLean served pastorates for the United Methodist Church in Ohio communities including Pleasant, Maynard, Green Valley Chapel and Liberty Chapel near Mount Vernon, Trinity United Methodist at Canton, Claridon, Kirkpatrick, Greenwich, Delphi and Salem United Methodist near Fredericktown.

Mrs. MacLean was a member of the Green Valley United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her daughters Peggy (Mike) Streby and Joanne (Jim) Streby both of Mount Vernon; her son Kevin (Patsy) MacLean of Fredericktown; 8 grandchildren; a great grandson; her brother Herbert Koconis of Middletown, Rhode Island and her sister Katherine Parker of Lancashire, England. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Rev. Frederick MacLean and her daughter Nancy Ellis.

There will be no calling Hours. A memorial service giving glory to God for the life of Pauline MacLean will be Sunday July 18, 2004 at 3:30 PM at the Green Valley United Methodist Church with Rev. Jack Clouston officiating. It was Pauline’s request that those in attendance wear red. Burial will be in Green Valley Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Central Ohio, 1984-A Coffman Road, Newark, Ohio 43055.

The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is assisting the family with arrangements.
