E. Janice Pfeiffer Finney, age 94, of Marion, died early on Saturday morning, May 5, 2007, at Kingston Residence.

She was born in Marion, Ohio, on February 12, 1913, the daughter of the late Raymond H. and Alice Opal (Stafford) Zachman. Janice graduated from the Marion Harding High School in the Class of 1930.

On September 20, 1934, Janice married her husband of over 35 years, Lavern W. Pfeiffer, who preceded her in death on January 29, 1970. For Lavern, she was a wonderful homemaker and mother of their two children.

Janice was a lifelong resident of Marion and a lifelong member of the Epworth United Methodist Church, where she was active with many committees. For many years, she was very involved with the Marion General Hospital Gift Shop, Twig III, where she served as the treasurer and received an award for donating over five thousand hours of her time as a volunteer. Also, she was a longtime member of the Marion Artisans Guild, and volunteer for the Marion County Board of Elections.

For over 30 years, Janice enjoyed spending her winters in Florida, and she loved doing craftwork.

Later in life, Janice married Dr. Raymond Finney, on October 17, 1987, at the Epworth United Methodist Church. Together they extensively traveled the world and visited numerous countries. He preceded her in death on December 7, 2000.

She will be missed by her two sons: William C. (Sharon) Pfeiffer, and Roger L. (Eileen) Pfeiffer; step-son: Dr. Robert M. (Judy) Finney, all three of Marion; five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother: Howard “Bill” Zachman.

The family will greet friends on Wednesday from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 E. Center St., Marion. Graveside funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Marion Cemetery with Pastor Max Williams officiating.
