Dwight Wellington Ashbaugh

MANSFIELD: Dwight Wellington Ashbaugh, 90, of South Trimble Road, Mansfield, died Monday morning February 28, 2005 in Good Shepherd Home, Ashland, following a short illness.
He was born in Leechburg, Pennsylvania on July 18, 1914 to Chester W. and Iva Wilhelmina (Long) Ashbaugh, and was graduated from Louisville High School with the Class of 1933. Dwight continued his education at Mount Union College, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business in 1938.
On June 17, 1938 he married Vera M. Gugelman.
He worked as a sales representative for Procter and Gamble for 33 years until his retirement in 1974.
An avid golfer, Dwight was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he served the church as a Deacon. He was an active member of Kingwood Men’s Garden Club, volunteered at MedCentral Hospital, and was a former member of the University Club.
A loving husband, father, and grandfather, he is survived by his wife of 66 years, Vera M. (Gugleman) Ashbaugh; two sons and daughters in-law Frederick A. and Irene Ashbaugh of Canton, John W. and Jennifer Ashbaugh of Hagerstown, Maryland; a daughter and son-in-law Charlene J. and John Heiser of Mansfield; a daughter-in-law Sally Ashbaugh of Wellington; nine grandchildren Michael Ashbaugh, Deborah Ashbaugh, Stacey Gaddis, Nikki Zimmerman, Matthew Ashbaugh, Sarah Ashbaugh, Molly Ashbaugh, Madison Ashbaugh and Morgan Ashbaugh; six great grandchildren; and a host of church friends and family.
He was preceded in death by a son Frank E. Ashbaugh and a brother F. Wayne Ashbaugh.
Friends may call in the church parlor one hour prior to the 1:30 pm memorial service Thursday, March 3, 2005 in First Presbyterian Church Chapel. The Rev. Dennis R. Allison will officiate. Inurnment will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
