Dwight L. Hunter, age 83 of Delaware died early Monday morning, June 30, 2008 at the home of his son.

He was born on December 21, 1924, the youngest of 10 children born to the late John and Cleora (Wright) Hunter. Dwight was a US Army Veteran of WW II, serving as an infantryman during the Campaign of Central Europe. An electric lineman for Delaware Rural Electric Co-op, he retired in 1986.

A life member of AMVets post 104, he moved to Delaware in 1964 from Johnstown. He was a loyal, dedicated father, husband, and friend; remembered for his strong independent qualities and legacy of hard work.

Survived and loved by his only son: David Hunter of Delaware and extended family members.

Preceded in death by his wife of 49 years: Thelma “Carolyn” (Smith) Hunter, brothers: Harry, Willard, Harold, sisters: Esther, Alice, Mabel, Mary, Bea, and Louise.

Friends may call Wednesday 4-8 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St. (SR 36), Delaware, where funeral services will be Thursday 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Patricia Ann Stout, HomeReach Hospice Chaplain officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Memorial Park with military honors provided by the Delaware County Veterans Assoc.
