Dr. Thomas D. Wolf, D.C.

May 23, 1958 ‒ July 12, 2016

Mansfield, Ohio

MANSFIELD: Tom Wolf had a generous soul. He learned that selflessness was a practice, not a place; a journey more than a destination. His genuine caring nature flowed from a loving heart that put the needs of others above his own.

Remembered as compassionate and thoughtful in every word and deed, Dr. Thomas D. Wolf, D.C. went to be with the Lord Tuesday evening July 12, 2016 from the emergency room of OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. He was 58.

Born May 23, 1958 in Mansfield to John and Cleva (Bletz) Wolf, Tom was graduated from Lexington High School in 1976. He studied at The Ohio State University, and in 1985 was graduated Cum Laude, second in his class, from National College of Chiropractic in Chicago, IL.

In May of 1986 he opened Wolf Chiropractic, recently celebrating 30 years of operations in Mansfield. He was a member of Ohio State Chiropractic Association, and attended Vineyard Columbus in Westerville.

An active tennis player, Tom was often seen riding his Harley custom Soft Tail on an evening ride to dinner or short cruise to get orange vanilla twist ice cream.

Tom’s family captured his heart and his attention. They include his wife Kathy (Dearman) whom he married April 21, 1979; their daughter Brittany Wolf; their son Troy Wolf; and granddaughter Savannah Rose Wolf all of Mansfield; sisters Barbara (Dr. Ronald) Cyphers of Bellville and Becky (Blain) Tilton of Butler; and a large extended family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Tiffany Wolf on March 23, 2016 and by a sister Mary Beth Wolf.

The Wolf family will receive friends Sunday, July 17, 2016 from 2 to 6 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where his funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. His cousin Pastor Timothy Davis will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to the Dr. Thomas D. Wolf Memorial Fund (Make checks payable:  Snyder Funeral Home) and may be made at the funeral home.

  • I am so saddened to learn of Tom’s passing. He will always be remembered as such a loving “Family Member”, to me.
He was so genuine with his caring, loving, nature. He will be deeply missed by so many.
    My deepest,heartfelt,sympathies to you all.

  • Kathy, Brittany, Troy, and Savannah:

My heart goes out to you. Tom was terrific to work for. His faith was so evident in everything he said or did, and his generosity was unparalleled. I am praying that knowing he is walking with Jesus, is now reunited with Tiffany, and being confident that you all will see him again provides some measure of comfort.

My deepest condolences and ceaseless prayers,
    Judy

    –Numbers 6:24-26

  • So, very sorry for the sudden loss and please know that we are lifting you all in prayer. It is always so hard to lose someone of our community, he was a great influence and impacted many lives.

  • Our prayers go out to the entire family. I can only think that Tiffany asked to have her earthly father join her with her Heavenly Father… sooner then later. Tom was my chiropractor as a teen and helped me through some very tough times navigating my back issues with potential embarrassment of wearing shoe lifts. As a youth he made an impact on my life in how loving and caring he was with everyone. My mother recently starting getting help with her back and he truly saved her a lot of pain as well. God allowed a great man to go home early from our perspective and Tom will be greatly missed. Much love and prayers

    • Bill and I would like to add our condolences and prayers to son Joshua’s note. I only met Dr. Wolf in June but was immediately impressed with his kind and careful attention to my needs. We are so sorry for your loss.

  • Kathy and family,

My deepest sympathy and condolences go out to you all. We will all lift you up in our prayers.
Tom was much more than my doctor , he was indeed a great friend He helped me heal , more than physically , also emotionally . We could always share a story and a few laughs.
He will be missed by all whose lives he touched.

  • To the entire Wolf family we at Crane Physical Therapy want to send our deepest condolences to his wife and children and extended family, but to his work family as well. May God give you all the peace and comfort you will need to get thru this very difficult time.
    Sincerely,
    Steve Crane and staff

  • To all of you…my heart is saddened for your loss. Many memories were made with all of you. Imagine the heavenly celebration on Tuesday night when Tom was ushered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Glory!

  • Dr Wolf was my chiropractor in the past and was currently treating my husband on a weekly basis. He joked with my husband Monday about getting his golf clubs and going on vacation with us. What a shock this is to find out he is gone! My prayers to the family and know we will miss Dr Wolf and his kind, caring ways!

  • My deepest condolences on behalf of the Herr family. My Dad started being treated by Tom long ago. I think they talked more than treated. Lol. He quickly became a staple in our household for myself, my daughter and my Mom. I’ll always remember the times during my Dads sickness that Tom helped me just by showing he cared. Allowing me to cry when he gave me hug the first time I went in after Dad passed. Always concerned and always welcoming. A really great person. He will be missed.

  • Mike and I would like to extend our deepest sympathies to Kathy,Brittney,Troy and Savannah on the loss of Dr.Wolf.
He will be missed so much by so many people and was truly Jesus with skin on to Mike and I on many occasions. He always asked about our kids, took time to share just plain life with us.He was always willing to pray anytime we asked him .
Our prayers will be with you .

  • Devastated to hear this news, there are no words.. prayers for all of the family.
He is home too soon and I’m sure his Momma (who I was privledged to grow up with and consider a Grandma) is pinching his cheeks already.

  • Kathy, Brittany, Troy & Sanannah,
I cannot even begin to know the pain you are feeling right now. What I do know is that this is the LAST thing I would want for all of you.
Tom was a wonderful man and what a reunion it was in heaven with his mom, dad, Mary Beth and his Tiff.
I will continue to pray as difficult days ahead are before you. I know your faith has been tested, but I also know that we have a loving God who will get you through.
May memories of Tiff and Tom help you as you continue to heal and may you feel all the prayers of comfort that are being said.

  • Oh, Dear Kathy, Brittney, Troy and Savannah, Barb and Becky, and family… I am so sorry and deeply saddened. I adored Tom, attending Hilltop with him and Kathy, and sitting with him in Chemistry class at OSU, Mansfield. He was always kind and brotherly, full of life and laughter. Our families go back several generations, and even though miles separate us, you all hold a special place in my heart. My prayer is for God to comfort you and give you peace, surround you with love and fill you with precious memories. Sending you my sincerest sympathies.

  • Kathy, Brittany, Troy and Savannah, I am so sorry for your loss. He was so sweet and reminded me so much of his dad. It was a privilege knowing him when I was growing up. His mother, Cleva was such a blessing in my life ! Someday we’ll all get to meet again in heaven. Prayers for your family.

  • Somehow the world feels different knowing my cousin isn’t here anymore. This world is truly not our home. It feels less like home with the passing of each loved one. Someday we’ll all be together again. We’re not far behind you, Tom.

  • I am so sorry to hear, and only heard today.( I called the office and left a message, not knowing at the time of his oassing on Tue) and Please know that we are thinking of you and keeping you in our orayers…am so sorry

  • Kathy & Family

My wife and I were so heartbroken to receive this news. Tom had been more than our Chiropractor for years but had become such a great friend. So always upbeat and uplifting. We shared prayers for each other and each others families many times. I knew that anytime I came for a treatment that I was going to receive so much more. It was like attending church in a low state of mind then leaving feeling so Blessed, it was the same with Tom. I might go in with back pain and leave feeling Blessed even with a small pain. Words will never be able to tell the good that he has done or the hearts that he has touched. I look forward to seeing him again. God Bless !!

  • WE are so sorry to hear of the loss of Dr. Wolf. I doctored with him for 15 years and found him to be the most caring and compassionate person I have ever met. As so many have said he made us all feel like we were his friend. Our lives are better because he touched us with his love.

  • Dear Kathy and kids,
I am completely shocked and saddened. I’m in a state of disbelief as I feel like I’ve lost a relative, not just a doctor. He was such a wonderful person-so kind, caring, compassionate. He always asked how you were and really wanted to know and always took whatever time was needed. Heavens gain is certainly our loss and that is what is so very sad. Not for him because we know where he is but for all of us who have to carry on without him ….. for now. Take care and know you are all in my prayers. I’m praying for Leslie as well as I know she also has had a great loss.

  • To Kathy and Family,
Tom was the best Chiropractor I know, he treated me for so many issues and so many times I cannot count, he knew just what to do to fix me; But above all he was kind and loving. We talked of his family , baseball, bikes, food, just about everything. Although I am retired I don’t have the issues I had in the past I shall never forget him. I hope your heart heals and you can know he is with God in spirit. Blessing dear ones, Blessings.
    Joan

  • So saddened to hear this news. Tom was one of the kindest, gentilest souls I ever met. It was my pleasure to have known him. I grew to trust him so much as my Dr.as he knew my fear and was so gentile and caring. He is sorely missed and my little nickname for him was “sugar britches”. He would always give me the biggest smile when I called him that. Quite a few years later I saw him and he came right up to me and asked how I was. He never forgot any of his patients. I will miss you..

  • Tom was a friend, great tennis partner, healer of my aches and pains, and a brother in Christ. I always looked forward to Wednesday nights when I got to play tennis with, or against him. He was always upbeat and inspirational, even in the face of the death of Tiffany. When he treated me in his office, he was always caring and genuinely interested in what was going on in my life. He will be greatly missed, and always remembered. My sympathies to Kathy and the entire family. May you have comfort knowing that he is now with the Lord.

  • So sorry to hear the passing of Tom. May you find peace comfort and strength with your friends and families love. Our thoughts and prayers to all of you.

  • Dr. Wolf will be sadly missed. My family has been going to him for about 20 years. And no one can take his place, his kindness and compassion for everyone. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family which we were also blessed to know thru his practice. May God Bless you all .
