Dr. Miles Oden

BELLVILLE: Dr. Miles Oden, 46, formerly of Bellville, died Sunday evening, January 25, 2004 in Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, following a long illness.
He was born October 27, 1957 in Bay Shore, New York, to John B. and Janeen Kocol Oden and was graduated from Solon High School with the class of 1976. Miles received his Bachelor of Science and Medical Doctorate degrees in 1985 from Kent State University and North East Ohio Universities College of Medicine. Dr. Oden served his internship at Canton Altman and Timkin Mercy Hospitals and completed his residency at Beth Israel Hospital in New York City.
Dr. Oden was in private practice as a psychiatrist in Mansfield for ten years. Following leaving his practice, he was a member of the medical staff at MANCI. While in Mansfield he also served on the Richland County Public Mental Health Board. Dr. Oden was currently employed by the Ohio Department of Mental Health, serving on the medical staff at Twin Valley Behavioral Healthcare, Columbus Campus.
Dr. Oden was a member of First Congregational Church in Mansfield. He enjoyed world travels and was an avid gardener, but valued most, quality time spent with his children.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Bingham Oden, whom he married July 31, 1982; his parents John and Janeen Oden of Osprey, Florida; his daughter, Vanessa Claire Oden, and son, M. Alexander Oden, both of Bellville; father-in-law and mother-in-law Robert and Julia Bingham of Cuyahoga Falls; two sisters and brothers-in-law Carrie and Ray Marz of Houston, Texas and Sallie and Greg Komitor of Tyler Texas; and will be sadly missed by many other family members and friends.
Dr. Oden was preceded in death by an infant son, Charles Madison Oden.
Friends may call on Wednesday, January 28, 2004, from 5-7 pm at the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home where the funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am. The Rev. David Root will officiate. Burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society may be made at the funeral home.
