Dr. Charles “Chuck” G. Young
January 03, 1932 ‒ December 24, 2008
BELLVILLE: Dr. Charles “Chuck” G. Young, 76, of Mann Road passed away Wednesday evening December 24, 2008 in his home.
No longer bound to his “earthly tent,” Charles “Charlie” is now more alive than ever, and at home with his Lord and Savior. (II Cor. 5: 1-5)
Dr. Young was born on January 3, 1932 in Mansfield to Charles and Thelma Young and graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1950.
At an early age he joined Boy Scout Troop #6 (The Blockhouse Troop) and later achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Charles even worked summers at Camp Avery Hand.
Dr. Young was a 13 year student at The Ohio State University and graduated with a degree in Internal Medicine.
Upon graduation, Charles served two years in the Air Force. He was stationed at Keesler Air Force base in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Upon his discharge from the military, he returned to Mansfield and created a partnership with Dr. Robert Jones, Dr. Sam Kauffman and Dr. Robert Mohl which later became Mansfield Internists.
Next to the love of his Lord Jesus Christ, care of his patients including family and friends was his goal in life.
Having a love for nature, Charles purchased his current property in 1972 and planted 15,000 hardwoods and pines, nurturing the land as he perceived it as being “on loan” from God.
On April 2, 1999, he was united in marriage to Nadji K. (Yant) Young.
Dr. Young was a faithful and active member of Diamond Hills Baptist Church where he previously served as deacon chairman and currently served as deacon. Toward the later years of his medical career Charlie took numerous mission trips. He traveled to Africa, Cambodia, and five times to Ecuador as a member of MMI (Medical Missions International) sharing God’s love throughout the world.
He is survived by his wife Nadji K. Young; daughter Dr. Lauri Young, Professor at Wagner College in Staten Island, N.Y., son Scott A. Young, a Project Manager in Environmental Services with Resource Management Inc. located in Holderness, New Hampshire, a special brother and sister-in-law Jon and Kristin Young of Mansfield, nieces Connie (Scott) Daniels, Felicia (Ron) Dupre, and a nephew Monte (Connie) Young; step-children Anja (Randy) Gehrke, Kip (Mystie) Mercer, and Kyle (Lisa) Mercer, as well as the best puppy dog in the world, Buff.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lois (Fisher) Young who died in September of 1996.
Friends may call on Sunday, December 28, 2008 from 2-6pm in the Finefrock Chapel of the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Homes (formerly Finefrock Funeral Home).
