Douglas W. “Doug” Harrison, age 68, of Mount Gilead, died Sunday morning, August 31, 2014, at his residence following a brief illness.

He was born on January 13, 1946, to the late Maime and Annie (Kender) Harrison in Richlands, Virginia.

He is survived by his wife, of 36 years, Peggy (Atwell) Harrison; daughters: Pamela (Tony) Hoback, Anna (Martin Pamer) Hall; grandchildren: Tiffany Chapman, Elizabeth (Josh) Wells, Leigh-Anna (Jacob Scott) Snider, and Martin Anthony Palmer; great-grandchildren: Dakota and Hunter Wells, Emma Snider, and Brian Droste; four brothers; a sister; best friend Buddy; a close sister-in-law, Jane Shrader; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Including his parents, Doug was preceded by a brother; special sister Judy Hughes; a baby sister Loretta Harrison; and a son, Tony Hall.

A memorial services honoring Doug’s life will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2014, at 6:30 pm, at the Victory Freewill Baptist Church, 2784 State Route 229, Marengo, OH, with Pastor Jimmy Thompson officiating.

  • You will be deeply missed uncle Doug, we had such a great time when you came in and stayed with dad for a while, i will never forget all the cookouts and horse shoes we played we made some great memories while you was here, but my fondest memory and one i will never forget is when you called me and told me you was baking a chocolate cake and was thinking about me and just wanted to call and tell me you loved me,i Love you to, you was a wonderful uncle who i will never forget, wish i had the chance to say goodbye, I know you are in heaven with mamaw,Judy, James, Loretta and my little boy Anthony. RIP love you forever and you will always be remembered.
