Mansfield, Ohio: Douglas Eugene Bledsoe, age 86, passed away May 5th, 2019 at the Sandusky Veterans Home where he resided since February 2014. Doug enlisted into the United States Army when he was 18 years old; he served from 1950-1953. Douglas served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Doug was born on October 18th, 1932 in Canebrake, West Virginia, to Tyler and Gladys Bledsoe. Doug married Delphia Blakely Bledsoe on December 26th, 1953, in Lebanon, Virginia. They were married for 46 years before she passed away on February 12th, 2000.


Doug retired from General Motors in Mansfield, Ohio. His love of flying was his passion. He obtained his pilot’s license in 1968. He spent many leisurely hours in flight, performing aerobatic stunts, and giving his passengers a thrilling ride! His second passion was playing one of his many guitars. He enjoyed playing gospel songs and singing with his wife when he wasn’t playing country or blue grass songs. He enjoyed traveling and sight-seeing of numerous places across the nation with his wife.


He is preceded in death by: his wife Delphia Bledsoe, February 12th, 2000; his son John Bledsoe, May 13th, 1980; his parents Tyler and Gladys Bledsoe; his brothers Benjamin Bledsoe, Billy Bledsoe, and Unice Bledsoe; his sisters Vivian Maxine Pruett, Sandra Josephine Ross, and Patricia Darlene Bledsoe.


He is survived by: Linda Mulvane (daughter) and Rodney Mulvane (son-in-law) of Baird, Texas; Debra Bledsoe (daughter) of Mansfield, Ohio; Donald Bledsoe (brother) and Jackie Bledsoe (sister-in-law) of Wilmington, Delaware; Patsy Geraldine Moore (sister) of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; Caroline Randall (granddaughter) of Dublin, Ohio; Philip Seitz (grandson) and his wife China Seitz of Alamogordo, New Mexico; Christina Jauregui (granddaughter) of Dublin, Ohio; Lisa Mulvane-Crouch (granddaughter) and her husband Shawn Crouch of Clyde, Texas; Ruth Cassil (granddaughter) of Walters, Oklahoma; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.


A graveside service will be held Monday, May 13th at 12 pm in Mansfield Cemetery.  Brother Rodney Mulvane will speak and military honors will be presented by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Squad.
