Douglas Dwight Deschner

MANSFIELD: Douglas Dwight Deschner, 56, of Mansfield, died Sunday evening December 1, 2002 in Metro Health Medical Center, Cleveland, following a short illness.
He was born November 17, 1946 in Richland County to Philip and Katherine (Blocher) Deschner, was graduated from Ontario High School in 1964, and was a lifelong Mansfield resident.
A Vietnam War Air Force Veteran, Douglas was a life member of VFW Post #9943, Mansfield.
Following 32 years of service, he retired on April 1, 1999 from AK Steel in Mansfield, where he worked as a foreman in the melt shop.
For the past year, he had been co-owner of D & D Archery Shop on Marianna Drive in Mansfield, and participated in archery competitions on the Local, National and World Level. An avid hunter, he was a member of the Ashland Bowmen.
A motorcycle enthusiast, he was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association.
He is survived by his wife Diana S. (Fraley) Deschner, whom he married June 27, 1970; two sons and a daughter-in-law Paul R. and Lisa Deschner of Mansfield and Philip L. Deschner of Van Wert; six grandchildren Derrick, Ryan, Kristina, Adam, Raina and Colton Deschner; his brother and sister-in-law Dave and Dale Deschner of Lucas; and his mother-in-law Martha Fraley of Mansfield.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law Lawrence Fraley.
Friends may call Thursday December 5, 2002 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where the funeral service will be held Friday at 11 am. Pastor Spencer Moore will officiate. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park, where the Richland County Joint Veterans Council will hold military graveside honors.
