Dorothy Miller McCamman, age 91, formerly of U.S. Route 42, Mount Gilead, died on Thursday morning, February 15, 2007, at the Woodside Village Care Center following a lengthy illness.

She was born on August 14, 1915, in Richland County, the daughter of the late William and Frances (Kline) Miller.

Dorothy was valedictorian of Madison High School class of 1933. Later, she graduated from the Ashland College where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Education and went on to teach in the Mansfield and Mount Gilead schools for 35 years.

On April 13, 1947, she married her loving husband of 47 years Harold L. McCamman. He preceded her in death on March 1, 1995.

Dorothy loved the Lord and was a member of the Bryn Zion Baptist Church, where she held many offices over the years and continued to teach Sunday school until she became ill 1995. She was also an active member of the American Legion and was a Morrow County hospital volunteer serving with the Rainbow Twig.

She is survived by two grandchildren Mike Pollard and Elizabeth (Miguel) Perez both of Florida; one great-granddaughter Isabella Perez; a brother John Miller; a sister Pauline Kennedy of both of Mansfield; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law Ruthanna & David Gibson; and a sister Mary Etta Wright.

The family will greet friends on Monday from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Craven & Snyder Funeral Home, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead, and for one hour prior to the funeral services which will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Jerry Mathias officiating. Burial will follow in Bryn Zion Cemetery.
