Dorothy Marie Zimmerman

MANSFIELD~ Dorothy Marie Zimmerman, age 88, formerly of Westgate Drive, passed away Friday morning December 12, 2008 in Oak Grove Manor.
She was born March 27, 1920 in Dayton to Ernest W. and Maude (Collins) France, was graduated from Plymouth High School, and spent most of her life in the Mansfield area.
Though primarily a homemaker, she did work several years with AMF in Shelby.
She enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, camping and gardening, even working around her yard. An excellent cook Dorothy made an out-of-this-world butterscotch pie and floating islands.
Dorothy was all about family, lavishing loving kindness and compassion on them. Her quiet and humble character was a indication of her flawless personality.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Keith “Kip” & Wanda Zimmerman of Galloway; daughters and sons-in-law Nancy & Fred McClure of Ashland and Rita & Ron Odson of Mansfield; grandchildren Tim & Carolyn McClure, Rick & Tammy McClure, Ann & Rod Kamph, Brent & Mary Odson, Derek Odson, Ben Zimmerman and Adam Zimmerman; six great grandchildren; a sister-in-law Jean France of Mansfield; and nieces and nephews.
Her husband of 65 years R. Fred Zimmerman preceded her in death in 2006. Also deceased are her brothers George W. France and Carl E. France and a sister Mae Reader.
The Zimmerman Family will receive friends Sunday, December 14, 2008 from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Finefrock Chapel of the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, 350 Marion Avenue (former Finefrock Funeral Home), where the funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. Pastor Carl Cunfer will officiate. Burial will follow in Lantz Cemetery.
Memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association or the North Central Ohio Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association may be made at the funeral home.
