Dorothy Margaret (Stout) Acker

Dorothy Margaret (Stout) Acker, 81, of Delaware went to be with the Lord Sunday afternoon October 21, 2012 at the Delaware Court Health Care Center surrounded by the love of all her children, and family.
She was born August 16, 1931 in Delaware County to Paul and Lucille (Bishop) Stout.
She attended Bellpoint School and was a majorette in high school. She worked at Buns Restaurant and later the Hamburger Inn before becoming manager of the Frisch’s Big Boy in Delaware. She later served for many years as a press operator for Ranco Manufacturing Company. Her final job was as manager for Storage USA in Delaware.
Dorothy was a lifetime member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Delaware. She enjoyed horseracing, golf, bowling and most of all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dorothy was a member and past president of the AMVETS Post #102 Auxiliary in Delaware and past State President of the Ohio AMVETS Auxiliary.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her 11 children; Mike (Mary Lou) Acker of Pickerington; Chris (Nicki) Acker of Delaware; Paul Raymond Acker of Marion; Tony (Chris) Acker of Delaware; Jeff (June) Acker of Ashley; Rick (Jackie) Acker of Powell; Larry Acker and companion Kim Davis of Delaware; Eric (Betty) Acker of Frankfort, KY; Phillip Scott Acker of Ashley; Karla Kay (Allen) Lindsey of Perry, Georgia; and Sherri Lee (Jerry) Graves of Galena; also 18 grandchildren, including a granddaughter she raised, Michelle Hill of Delaware, and 19 great grandchildren; brother, Larry (Hazel) Stout of Summerfield, FL; sister, Rosemary Mardis of Delaware. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Carl Acker Jr.; daughter Kathryn L. Acker, three brothers; Paul, Richard, and her twin Donnie; and two sisters, Patty Stout Coffman and Ann Stout Jones.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday October 24th from 4 – 8 pm at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 1510 W. William Street at Valleyside Drive, Delaware where a vigil of prayer service will be held at 4:00 pm and an AMVETS Post #102 service at 7:45 pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday October 25th at 10:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 82 E. William St., Delaware with Rev. Fr. James Black officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. The St. Mary Bereavement Committee will then host a reception in the Snyder-Rodman Community Room immediately following the graveside services.
