Dorothy Jean Kaple, 81, of Delaware died Wednesday afternoon at her daughter’s residence with her loving family by her side. She was born November 28, 1926 in Gallipolis, Ohio to James Chester Clark and Gladys Marie (Allmon) Clark. She had worked at the Branding Iron Restaurant and Ohio Wesleyan Food Service and in the last few years provided assistance to St. Mary Church, where she was a member. She is survived by the family she dearly loved, 3 daughters, Judy (Jim) Froehlich of Galena, Laura (Jerry) Lett of Delaware, and Susan (Bob) Geiger of Galena; 4 sons, David Kaple of Delaware, Larry (Amy) Kaple of Delaware, Tommy (Barb) Kaple of Marengo, and Joe Kaple of Delaware; 12 grandchildren, Tony, Sean, Christa, Tim, Brooke, Reece, Rachel, Sarah, Kyla, Bobby, Kaitlyn, and Nicholas; 15 great grandchildren, Bianca, Skylar, Calvin, Hannah, Abbey, Garrett, Rachel, Jacob, Mackensie, Bailey, Madison, Haley, Austin, Brody, and Wesley; 2 sisters, Frances Houck of Gallipolis and Ann Van Gundy of Columbus; 2 brothers, George Clark of Point Pleasant, WV and Arthur Clark of Ashville, Ohio; and numerous close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Maurice “Moe” in 1993, 2 brothers James and Richard Clark, and 2 sisters Josephine Rice and Alice Arrowood. The family will receive friends on Monday August 4th from 9:00 am until time of the memorial mass at 10:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 82 E. William St., Delaware. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. The family will then host a reception in the Rodman Neeper Funeral Home Community Room immediately following the committal services.
