Dorothy J. Curtin West, age 86 of Columbus, formerly of Delaware passed away Monday, November 28, 2005 at Grant Medical Center from injuries sustained in a automobile accident on June 17, 2005 in Columbus.

She was born on November 26, 1919 in West Virginia to the late Robert and Anna (Taylor) Mayes. A graduate of Willis High School in 1936, she resided in Delaware until 1975, when she moved to Columbus. While in Delaware she was employed at the former Singer Sewing Machine Store and Sears and Roebuck both of downtown Delaware, she also worked in the payroll department of Ohio Wesleyan University and retired from Planned Communities.

Dorothy attended the Grace United Methodist Church, enjoyed sewing, fishing, playing cards, and being around water, especially Curtis Lake in Michigan and the beaches of Florida.

She is survived by her second husband: Robert West, Sons: Don (Ellen) Curtin of Lewis Center, Jim (Judy) West of Maryville, MO, Daughter: Cheryl (Tom) Glasener of New Carlisle, 10 Grandchildren: Rob (Marcia) Curtin, Tim (Helyn) Doup, James R. II (Leslie) West, Wendy (Jim) Froncek, Gina Barger, Natalie (Jeff) Bettger, Thomas Glasener, Russel (Debbie) Glasener, Rose (Greg) Newland, Joel (Mandy) Glasener, 18 Great-grandchildren, Sisters: Helen Graham and Annabell McCreary both of Delaware.

Preceded in death by her first husband: Forrest J. Curtin on June 15, 1970, Brother: Robert “Louie” Mayes, and Sister: Hazel Kern.

Friends may call Thursday 4-8 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St., (SR 36), Delaware, where services will be held Friday 11:00 a.m., with Grant Chaplain Donna Morley officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Memorial Park, Delaware.
