Dorothy Irene “Dottie” Grennell

Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017, Dorothy Irene “Dottie” Grennell received her wings, surrounded by her children.

Dottie was born Nov. 17, 1946, the daughter of Walter and Gertha Harris of Bladensburg.

She is survived by her son, Michael (Edna) Hedrick; daughters, Barbara (Bret) Van Houten, Tonja (Tim) Sheller and Carmen (Micah) Awwiller; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; many others that called her mom or grandma; sister, Barbara (Larry) Glancy; and nieces and nephews.

Dottie was preceded in death by her parents; son, Lester Workman; brother, Dale Harris; a niece and a nephew.

Honoring Dottie’s request, a private burial will be held at a later date.

To honor her memory, the family asks that donations be given to Chomp Ministries, c/o Joe Springer; American Cancer Society, c/o Central Christian Church Relay for Life team; or St. Jude.
