Dorothy I. Farmer, 85, formerly of the North Liberty Community passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at the Inn at HillenVale in Mount Vernon. Dorothy was born on August 3, 1920 in Amity, a daughter of the late Smith S. and Abanna B. (Cunningham) Pealer.

Dorothy was a 1938 graduate of the former Amity High School and the Mount Vernon Business College. She was a secretary for Cooper Energy Service and the Amity Elementary School. Dorothy was a member of the North Liberty United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women’s Club. She was a member of the Amity Grange, North Liberty Garden Club, the Koskosing Valley Saddle Club, and she volunteered at Butler Elementary to the Gems Reading Program. Dorothy enjoyed playing euchre, gardening and baking for her family. She was involved with the Knox County 4-H program for many years.

Dorothy is survived by four loving sisters, Evelyn (Ralph) Smothers of Tiffin, Joan (David) Conway of Canfield, Lois (Milan) Senokozlieff of Perrysville, and Joyce (Don) Garvic of Amity; several cherished nieces, nephews and their families; and two special sisters-in-law, Polly Pealer Stelts of Fredericktown and Mary Farmer of Cleveland.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, L. Dean Farmer in 1990, a son, Gregory L. Farmer in 1975 and one brother, John Alvin Pealer.

Friends will be received at the Snyder Funeral Home, Fredericktown from 6-8 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be held at the North Liberty United Methodist Church on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Ken Kinley and Pastor Jack Dearth officiating. The family will observe a private graveside service at the Amity Cemetery.
