Dorothy Emma Kochheiser Mowry

BELLVILLE: Dorothy Emma Kochheiser Mowry, age 90 of Bellville passed away Saturday, February 4, 2012 in her home following a short illness.
She was born January 13, 1922 on the family farm on Kochheiser Road. The only daughter of Melvin and Lula (Woodruff) Kochheiser, Dorothy was graduated from Lexington High School in 1939 and attended Mansfield Business College.
On February 6, 1943 she married Chester Mowry, while he was home on leave from the Army. He preceded her in death in 2002.
Dorothy worked as a loan officer for 25 years at the Mansfield Farmers Production Credit (Farm Credit Service) and retired in 1984.
She and Chester operated their dairy farm just up the road from the house where Dorothy was born. Of her 90 years, most of her life was lived on her beloved, family named, Kochheiser Road.
Dorothy was a very active member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, where she was the pianist for the past 75 years. She began playing in church at the age of 15, and had been the pianist at the present building until she retired just last month. Her very favorite hymn was “What A Friend We Have in Jesus.”
A lifetime Richland County resident, Dorothy was a member of the Chestnut Chapel Community Club, who met each month for dinner, and was active with the Lexington Senior Civic Center.
Dorothy will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and her bright beaming eyes and smile.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Rev. Ronald A. and Susan Mowry of Strongsville, and a daughter and son-in-law Linda A. and Alan Crooks of Mansfield; four grandchildren Dr. Jennifer and Justin Fisk of Chilicothe, Kent and Abby Crooks of Seattle, Washington, Elizabeth (Betsy) Mowry of Middleburg Heights, and Tiffany Crooks of Cleveland; three great grandchildren Abby Fisk, Keegan Fisk and Parker Fisk. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law Faithe Mowry and Annabelle Kochheiser.
In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded by two brothers Donald and Paul Kochheiser.
Friends may call Sunday, February 12, 2012 from 2-6 pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Monday at 10 am in Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. Dorothy’s son The Rev. Ronald A. Mowry and The Rev. Dr. Beverly Hall will officiate and burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery.
