Doris N. Fisher

January 11, 1928 ‒ April 01, 2015

Mount Gilead, Ohio

Doris N. Fisher, age 87, of Mount Gilead, passed away Wednesday evening, April 1, 2015, at the Mill Creek Nursing and Rehab in Galion.

On January 11, 1928, Doris was born in Mansfield, OH, the daughter of the late Russell T. and Mabel (Brandt) Brook. She graduated from Shiloh High School in the Class of 1946.

As a young lady, she was an office manager for Borden Dairy in Mansfield. One day she met a gentleman hauling milk, William E. “Bus” Fisher. There was a mutual attraction and after many visits there they began dating. Nine years later, on July 21, 1957 they were married at Ganges Reformed Church. They enjoyed over 57 years of marriage, raising three children during that wonderful time.

Doris spent a good portion of her life, 33 years, working as a clerk for Washington Township. She started in 1967 and retired in 2000.

Doris loved her home church, Iberia Presbyterian. She became a member in 1957 and attended ever since. She was very involved in the church serving as clerk and treasurer for many years. She was also an elder, active in the Presbyterian Women’s Association and received a Woman of Faith Award on April 29, 2010.

Doris was a very giving woman, always putting everyone else before herself. She took great delight in taking care of her house and family.

Doris will be dearly missed by her husband, William “Bus”, of Mount Gilead; three children: Vernon Fisher and his wife Deborah of Iberia, Vivian Sparks and her significant other Steve Eyre of Tennessee, Vickie Oder and her husband Joseph of Mount Gilead; four grandchildren: Megan and Bridget Oder of Mount Gilead, Lori Massey of Bucyrus, Brenda Compton of Mount Gilead; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Brook, and a brother, Kenneth Brook.

The Fisher family will greet friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Monday, April 6, 2015, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead. Services celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at the Iberia Presbyterian Church, 8607 County Road 30, Iberia, OH 43325, with Pastor Jack Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Iberia Cemetery.
