Doris Milligan, age 85, of James Street, Mount Vernon, passed away on Saturday October 16, 2004 at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon. She was born on July 17, 1919 in Olive Green, Ohio to the late Orrville and Nettie (Jennings) Kirkpatrick. Mrs. Milligan served as a foster grandparent for the Knox County Adult Day Care Center. She was a member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) both of Mount Vernon.
She is survived by six sons; Harold (Nicky) Milligan Jr., Raymond (Bonnie) Milligan, Robert (Colleen) Milligan, Ronald (Gail) Milligan, all of Mount Vernon, Jeffery (Dee Ann) Milligan of Graham, North Carolina, Bart Milligan of Columbus, two daughters; Jo Ann (John) Butler of Mansfield, Regina Schroeder of Mount Vernon, fourteen grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren, a sister, Leah Palmer of Palmdale, California,sons-in-law, Ralph Davis and Jim Schroeder, a brother-in-law, George Prosser of Mount Vernon, two sister-in-laws, Patricia Kirkpatrick of California, Helen Kirkpatrick of Johnstown and special friend Nancy King.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband Harold Milligan Sr. (1991), a daughter, Barbara Davis, four brothers; Russell Kirkpatrick, Gerald Kirkpatrick, Donald Kirkpatrick, Cecil Kirkpatrick and a sister, Dorothy Prosser.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 5 to 8 PM at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 AM with Rev. Jamie Gump officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Knox County Adult Day Care Center and may be left at the funeral home.
