Doris L. Garverick, 91, of rural Galion, died Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Olentangy Woods Nursing Center in Galion after an extended illness.
Born Nov. 26, 1920 in Crawford County, she was the daughter of the late Otis and Emma Walter Tobin. She was preceded in death on May 19, 2004 by her husband, Lowell R. Garverick whom she married on Jan. 29, 1944.
Doris was a graduate of Bucyrus High School and a long-time member of Peace Lutheran Church where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a 4-H advisor in Morrow County for over 25 years, an avid seamstress, enjoyed playing cards, watching television and traveling.
Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Larry Ness, of Mansfield, Jean and Robert Heilshorn, of Lewis Center, Tami and Dale White, of rural Galion; one son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Judy Garverick, of rural Galion; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Edge Dixon of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by one great-grandson and two brothers, Walter and Ronald Tobin.
Friends may call from 12 to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home where services will be held at 2 p.m. with Pastor Robert Heilshorn officiating. Burial will be in Iberia Cemetery.
