Doris E. Hathaway

Doris E. Hathaway, age 86, of Follin Rd. Fredericktown, died unexpectedly, at her home, Friday afternoon August15, 2003. She was born in Newark, Ohio, June 30, 1917, the daughter of the late Frank and Ida (Swisher) Wilkin and had been a Fredericktown area resident for over 50 years. She graduated from the Newark High School with the class of 1936. Following High School she graduated from the Newark College of Commerce where she served as president of the Beta Chapter of Alpha Pi Sigma Sorority. For a number of years following college she was employed by the Newark Bureau of Unemployment Compensation. She was a member of the Batemantown United Methodist Church, the Nature Lovers Garden Club and the Farm Council. Mrs. Hathaway was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years Donald Hathaway whom she married May 30, 1951; a daughter Joyce (David) Kroninger of Westerville; son Joe (Lisa) Hathaway of Fredericktown; grandchildren Krista and Kayla Kroninger and Jessie, Jared and Jackie Hathaway; a sister Dorothy Franks of Newark and a number of nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant daughter Nancy Lou Hathaway and 2 brothers Paul and George Wilkin.
Friends may call at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown on Monday from 2 PM until 4 PM and 6 PM until 8 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 AM. The Reverend Jeremy Ray will officiate and burial will follow in the North Fork Cemetery near Waterford.
