Donna Mae (Lawler) Kaelber, of Marion, went to Heaven peacefully on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 24, 2011. She was born on May 31, 1928 to the late Hilda and Joseph Lawler. Donna was a life long member of St. Mary Church and a 1946 graduate of St. Mary’s School. Prior to working most of her life as a homemaker, she worked at Jim Dugan’s and the Marion Star. Donna met her husband Arthur, when he came in to place an ad in The Marion Star. She and Arthur Robert Kaelber were married on December 26, 1955; Arthur preceded her into Heaven on November 8, 2006. Donna delivered Mobile Meals for many years, and was an active member of both The Daughters of Isabelle and Father Kaciar Club. She lived most of her life on Girard Avenue, but was born on Chestnut Street and her most recent home was at Primrose where she was a member of the Primrose Bell Ringers.

Donna is survived by her children Cheryl (Dane) Rogers, Carol (Larry) Brown, John (Sally) Kaelber, and Ed Kaelber and siblings Gertrude (Frank) Rochelle, Joan (Don) Bolin. One brother, Michael (Judy Ruebeck), preceded her in death. Donna’s grandchildren include Heather (Doug) Turney, Jennifer Laufer, Leah Rogers, Joshua (Wendy) Brown, Adam (Tosha) Brown, Luke Brown, Jacob (girlfriend Kylie Glass) Brown, Craig Kaelber, and Matthew Kaelber. Her step-grandchildren include Kim (Chris) Parsell, Zach Duffy, Joe and Mindi Brown. Her great-grandchildren are Anna Turney, Camellia Brown, Aya Brown, Bailey Brown, Drake Brown, Evan Williams and Nate Williams. Donna also has two step great-grandchildren Kit and Winn Parsell.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to all the healthcare providers who cared for Donna throughout the years and a special thank you to the staff of Primrose.

Family will receive friends Monday, November 28, 2011 from 4 PM until 8 PM at Gunder/Hall and Folk Funeral Directors. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2011; 10:30 AM at St. Mary Church with burial to follow at the St. Mary’s Cemetery. Fr. Michael Nimocks will be officiating the service.   • Cheryl, I am very sorry for your mothers passing. I loved her and our times together in the office. She was always happy and upbeat, a very special and beautiful person. I always felt more joy after being with her.

  • This is for Donna Kaelber: I was the employer for Art Kaelber and periodically worked with Donna in assisting Art with his problems. She was a gracious lady and both were wonderful people who would do anything for you. My condolences to the family.
