Donald Kimble, 82, of Galion passed away Thursday morning, November 2, 2017 after an extended illness at his home.

Born March 5, 1935 in Lansing, Michigan, he was the son of Arthur R. and Sylvia (Noviss) Kimble.  He married Barbara (Pickett) Kimble on September 8, 1956 and she survives.

He was a graduate of Mishawaka High School in Mishawaka, Indiana and received a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University and a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Notre Dame University.  He worked as a mechanical engineer for Bendix in Mishawaka, Arvin Industries in Columbus, Indiana, North Electric in Galion, Ohio and then purchased P.E.C.O. with Bill Fox at which time he served as President of P.E.C.O. II in Galion. Don later worked for DANCO in Westlake, Ohio where he was sales manager, retiring in 2001.

Don was a longtime active and former member of Christ United Methodist Church and was known for organizing bus trips for church members and friends.  He was a former member of the Galion Country Club, Professional Mechanical Engineers, was an avid Purdue fan and member of Purdue Alumni. He loved baseball and coached little league in Galion for many years.  In fact one of his favorite pass times was talking baseball with anyone that had knowledge of the game.

Don was the type of guy who was always there with a helping hand for those that needed it and enjoyed helping youth in Galion get scholarships to Purdue University.  He showed community support by his work with several charities including the Galion YMCA and American Heart Association.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Diane (Nick) Cellentani of Columbus, Donald R, Jr. (Becky) Kimble of Cleveland and Michael (Cathy) Kimble of Dublin; six grandchildren, Whitney (Jarod) Pugh, Garrett (Kandyce) Kimble, Loren Cellentani, Kristin Cellentani, Ian Kimble and Sherron Kimble; two great grandchildren, Parker Pugh and Madelynn Pugh and a brother, Herbert (Beverly) Kimble of North Canton.

The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Monday, November 6, 2017 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday with Rev. Don Trigg officiating.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
