Donald Eugene Tollison

August 25, 1939 ‒ November 27, 2017

Bellville, Ohio

BELLVILLE: Donald Tollison, age 78, passed away Monday, November 27, 2017 in his Bellville home surrounded by family.

He was born August 25, 1939 in Butler to parents John & Ethel (Stull) Tollison. After graduating East Knox High School he proudly served his country by joining the US Army where he was a military policeman stationed in Korea during the war.

A young lady named Martha “Marty” Easterday caught his eye and the pair married on August 6, 1966 in Mt. Vernon. Don worked with General Motors for over 32 years until retiring in 1997.

In spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and reading western novels. But above all, Don cherished spending time with his family—especially his son Scott—and loved to watch his grandsons’ football games.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Marty Tollison of Bellville; daughter Teresa Bennett of Howard; grandsons Evan Rollins and Jared Rollins of Mt. Sterling, KY, and Hunter Tollison and Wyatt Tollison of Bellville; daughter-in-law Paula Tollison of Bellville; siblings John “Connie” (Barb) Tollison and Sandra “Sissy” Martin all of Howard.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his son Scott Tollison, grandson Garrett Tollison, and brother-in-law Harold Martin.

His family will receive friends Thursday, November 30, 2017 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home where a memorial service honoring Don’s life will begin at 3 p.m. and Pastor Micah Pelkey will speak. Military honors will be performed by American Legion Post #535 of Bellville.

Contributions toward a future memorial for Don may be made at his services (please make checks to Snyder Funeral Homes).
