Donald Eugene Archey, 76, of Delaware, awoke to life immortal on May 1, 2010. Born in Greenup, Kentucky to Millard and Caroline Matilda Archey on March 29, 1934, he proudly served in the U.S. Army before marrying his beloved on November 27, 1952 and settling in Columbus. A tireless and successful sole proprietor, he founded and operated Don’s Road Oiling, Inc. for 37 years before retiring in 2002 to pursue hobbies including woodworking and travel, visiting all fifty American states and four foreign nations. Don influenced all who knew him by his humble example, never hesitating to help those in need, be they family, friend, or stranger. His clever wit and boundless generosity were exceeded only by his loving devotion to his adoring family. He is survived and missed by his loving wife of 57 years, Revel Archey; children, Stan (Sheri) Archey, Libby (Dan) Inkrot, Elisa (Don) Writesel, Gayla (Jeff) Barsch, Tawnya (Ken) Baer, and John (Kim) Archey; grandchildren, Jason Archey, Zac Writesel, Joel Archey, Jairica (Neil) Kivlin, Eli Inkrot, Ambrose Barsch, and Alana Barsch. He is also survived by a loving extended family, including sisters Inez (Les) Tussey, Ida (Truman) Lyons, Laverne Boyle, and Clara (Michael) Gerber and brothers Lester (Sherry) Archey and Norman Archey. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Deborah. The family will receive friends on Wednesday May 5th from 5 – 8 pm at the Rodman Neeper Funeral Home, 1510 W. William St., Delaware and one hour prior to the funeral services to be held on Thursday May 6th at 11:00 am at the Meadow Park Church of God, 2425 Bethel Road, Columbus, OH 43220 with Pastor Dave Schultz officiating. Graveside services will then follow at 2:30 pm in Kingwood Memorial Park Cemetery, where the Delaware County Veterans Association will provide military honors.
