Donal D. Irvine, 87, of Mt. Gilead, Ohio died unexpectedly Wednesday, May 30, 2001 in Morrow County Hospital.
He was born in Redwood Falls, Minnesota on Sept. 11, 1913, the son of the late Ransom and Leona Solomon Irvine. He was a farmer and horse trainer until his retirement in 1988. Donal was a former member of the Chesterville United Methodist Church, the U.S. Trotting Association, the Ohio Horsemen’s Association, and the Marion Moose Lodge. He loved horses and enjoyed watching baseball and football.
He is survived by his wife Marcella R. Trowbridge Irvine, whom he married June 14, 1946; two sons and a daughter-in-law William Irvine of Jeromesville, OH, and Donal & Renee Irvine of Anderson, IN; two daughters and a son-in-law Janet Irvine of Northfield, OH and Marcella “Jodi” and David Pajestka of Garfield Heights, OH; five grandchildren Bradley, Michelle, Erin, Wyatt and Dwight; a brother John Irvine of Lake Placid, FL; and two sisters and brothers-in-law Wanda & James Haynie of Atlanta, GA and Ruby & Maury Daniels of Wilmington, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
A daughter Rebecca M. Irvine preceded him in death.
Friends may call at the Craven Funeral Home in Mt. Gilead on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Pastor Mark Boedeker will hold funeral services there Friday at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.
