Dona J. Owen

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7. Dona J. Owen went to be with the Lord Wednesday, October 11, 2017, in Winchester Terrace Nursing Home surrounded by her family. She was 91.
She was born February 22, 1926, to parents Gates & Zella (Bowser)
Green in Fort Wayne, Indiana. After Dona graduated from Mansfield Senior High School with the class of 1943, she began studying at St. Rita’s School of Nursing in Lima and graduated with the class of 1947. Dona then married Pete Linster and together they had three children, Stephen, Peter, and Nancy.
Dona later moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1955, and began working for a Dr. Richard Owen in his private practice. The pair later married in October of 1971 and spent 19 wonderful years together until he passed in 1990.
After moving back to Mansfield in 1995 she became involved and attended Berean Baptist Church, where she was a part of the Welcoming Committee and Tuesday’s Bible Study.
She is survived by stepsons Richard (Karen) Owen, Christopher (Karen) Owen; step-grandchildren Sarah, Kate, R.D., Michael, Jennifer, and Christine Owen; sister Sheila Huff; nephew Bruce (Donna) Young; niece Kay Huff; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
In addition to her loving husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and her children Stephen Linster, Peter Linster, and Nancy Linster; siblings William G. Green, and Bobette (Charles) Young.
A funeral service honoring Dona’s life will be held Monday, October 16, 2017, at 11 a.m. Pastor Jim Berry will speak.
Contributions in Dona’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital may be made at the funeral home.
