Dolores M. Wolfe

Dolores M. Wolfe, age 82, of Country Club Retirement Center, passed away Monday, April 3, 2004 at the Knox Community Hospital. She was born September 29, 1921, in Gambier the daughter of the late George E. and Helen C. (Biggs) Ayers and was a lifelong resident of Gambier. She graduated from Gambier High School in 1939, managed a local grocery store during the war years, married, raised a family, and worked at Kenyon College for 18 years before her retirement in 1983. She was a long-time member of the Grove Church of Christ (Gambier) and a charter member of the Fun Bunch Euchre Club, meeting over 50 years. She was active in Girl Scouts and Sunday School activities when her daughters were young and always made their friends welcome and comfortable in their home. She was a devoted daughter, wife and mother.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law; Susan and Thomas Caceci, Blacksburg, Virginia, and Linda and Charles Jackson, Circleville, Ohio, two grandchildren, Aaron and Natalie Jackson, Circleville, and one sister; Mary (Hal) Henry of Milan, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Leo Wolfe, two brothers; Paul E. Ayers and George E. Ayers Jr., and a sister, Margaret Anderson.
There will be a funeral service Friday, May 7, at 2 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with Jerold Tear officiating. Friends may call from 12 p.m. until time of service. Interment will follow in Union Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross or to Hospice of Knox County.
