Dillon Joseph Lanthorn, age 19, of Centerburg, Ohio, died unexpectedly Saturday, November 3, 2018. He was born November 27, 1998 in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Adam and Jodi (Orahoske) Lanthorn.

Dillon graduated from Centerburg High School in 2017, where he competed on the track and field and wrestling teams and was a member of the FFA Chapter.  He enlisted in the Ohio Army National Guard his senior year, and served in Charlie Company of the 837th Engineering Battalion out of Columbus- attaining the rank of PFC. One of his proudest achievements and to which he was extremely dedicated was serving in the National Guard. Dillon was also a member of The American Legion Post  92.

He attended Otterbein University in Westerville, pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering and participating in their track and field programs.

Described by his family as a quiet, yet funny, witty, and lovable young man, he had a great smile. Dillon was known as a hard worker that was generous, respectful, and caring, who loved being with family. He enjoyed anything outdoors, but especially hunting, fishing, and camping. He was a very good friend to many, and loved his teammates, coaches, and “battle buddies.”

Along with his parents, Dillon is survived by his brother Mason, grandparents Rick (Barb) Lanthorn of Thornport, OH, Becky Wollard of Grove City, and Judy (John) Henkel of Mt. Vernon,  great-grandmother Betty Lanthorn of Newark, uncles Bob (Melissa) Lanthorn of Grove City, and Aaron Wollard of Grove City, as well as cousins Grace and Grant Lanthorn and A.J. Wollard. He was preceded in death by Aunt JoEllen Orahoske-Supplee and grandfather Joseph Orahoske.

Visitation will take place Tuesday, November 6th from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral  Home, 637 N. St. Rt. 61, Sunbury, OH.  Services celebrating Dillon’s life will be conducted at the Centerburg Church of Christ, 3830 Columbus Rd, Centerburg, OH, Wednesday November 7th, with calling hours at 10:00 a.m. followed by services at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Daryn Dawes officiating. Burial will follow at Eastview Cemetery in Centerburg.
