Diane Kay Fulk

March 28, 1957 ‒ May 11, 2016

Lexington, Ohio

LEXINGTON: Diane Kay Fulk passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2016 from Hospice House in Ashland surrounded by her family. She was 59.

She was born March 28, 1957 to parents Gene & Mary (Terman) Heidlebaugh in Mansfield. She graduated Northmor High School with the class of 1975 and was very involved in their 4-H program. Diane went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Ashland University.

Raised on a farm, Diane enjoyed being outdoors. A young man from a neighboring farm caught her eye, and the couple fell in love over many John Deere tractor rides. On September 8, 1979, she married Steven Ray Fulk and together they raised three children.

Diane was a teacher at her alma mater, Northmor Local Schools, where she taught home economics for 32 years. She loved helping her students learn new things and even taught sewing skills to her own family. She was a wonderful cook and combined that with her love of gardening to make the best homemade salsa.

In spare time, she took pleasure in riding horses, walking, and quilting. But above all, Diane cherished spending time with her family and friends.

Diane was a member of Steam Corners United Methodist Church in Lexington where she played piano for worship services in younger years.

She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Steve Fulk of Lexington; children Brian (Bethany) Fulk of Galion, Adam (Shelly) Fulk of Mt. Gilead, and Holly (Nick) Queen of Lexington; grandchildren Ethan, Hunter, Raelyn, Kendal and Paisley Fulk, and Case, Kenny and Mack Queen; parents Gene & Mary Heidlebaugh of Lexington; siblings Rick (Deb) Heidlebaugh of Columbia, TN, Donna (Franklyn) Lay of Lexington, and Cathy (Mike) Foust of Lexington; father-in-law Ray (Wilma) Fulk of Lexington, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Diane was preceded in death by her mother-in-law Vivian Fulk.

Although no public service will be held in Diane’s memory, her family hopes you will hold her in your heart as you remember her in your own special way.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Hospice House (1050 Dauch Dr, Ashland, OH 44805) or to the Cleveland Clinic Cancer Center (10465 Carnegie Ave, Cleveland, OH 44106 or online at http://giving.clevelandclinic.org/)

  • My thoughts and prayers go out to the Fulk family! I loved being in Mrs Fulk’s classes! One of my most favorite memories that I will never forget is how she figured out that I would get test anxiety every time we had a test, so one day she called me up to her desk and ask me the questions that I missed and I knew every one of them, I just would draw a blank every time the test was out in front of me. Thank you Mrs Fulk for believing in me when I didn’t even believe in myself at times. You will be greatly missed 🙁 May God bless you all through this very difficult time!

  • So sorry to here of your loss. Your in our thoughts and prayers. God bless you

  • I had her as my teacher my sophmore year. although I only went to northmor that year she taught me so much. From sewing pants an a hoodie to making a pizza an cookies. Or just chatting with her. She was a great teacher an always had a big smile for you when you walked in. Im sorry for your loss!

  • You will be missed, Mrs. Faulk! You are, not just the one teacher I will miss, the person you were will be missed! Thank you for being the wonderful person you were and the laughter we were able to share with you in the classroom. May you rest in peace, and we see each other again!

  • My prayers are with you at this time. I have known Diane all my life and our lives were intertwined daily until graduation. I want to share one day at Steam Corners Sunday school class and someone spouted out that all of us had names that ended in “ann” well almost, there was Joann, Mariann, Roxanna, Diane and Lowell”ann”. We brought that up often after that day. It is the love, the laughter and the memories that mean so much when we loose our family and friends. I will keep all of you in my thoughts and hope that God’s grace brings you comfort in this time. Until we are all together again!

  • I am sorry for your loss. I did not know Mrs. Fulk, but I do know the pain of losing a loved one. I hope the following scriptures will bring you comfort. Rev. 21:3,4 “With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” Can you imagine what the world will be like without death and pain? We will never again mourn the loss of someone we love, or feel the sting that death leaves behind. But the Bible promises us even more, John 5:28,29 “Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment.” Those we have lost will be brought back to life, and they will never suffer and die again. What a wonderful hope, please accept my condolences at this time.

  • My deepest sympathy to Diane’s family. I worked with her for many years at Northmor and have fond memories of those years with her. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers.
