MANSFIELD: Detlef W. “PeeWee” Yoder, 57, formerly of Frederick Street, Lexington, died Wednesday morning July 12, 2006 in Winchester Terrace following a long illness.

He was born October 30, 1948 in Ruhpolding, Germany, to Jess and Gertrud (Zurich) Yoder, and came to this country at an early age.

He was graduated from Lexington High School in 1967, and remained a lifelong area resident.

From 1967 to 1979, Detlef served with the Ohio Air National Guard, was discharged as staff sergeant, and was a member of the Minuteman Club of the Air National Guard.

He owned and operated D & D Drywall for more than 13 years.

Detlef was a member of American Legion Post #535, Bellville, Eagles Lodge #859, Crestline, and was a founding member of the Lex Laser Athletic Association ~ promoting youth soccer and basketball.

He was a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law Ben and Amanda Yoder of Mansfield, and a brother and sister-in-law Bernd and Rita Doss of Havelock, North Carolina.

In addition to his parents, a brother Heinz Doss preceded him in death in 1969.

The family will receive friends Friday, July 14, 2006 from 4-7 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where the funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 am. Pastor Jason Carmean will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
