Dennis Reese Brooks

Dennis Reese Brooks 69, of Cardington passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at his residence after an extended battle with lung cancer surrounded by his loving family.

He was born January 8, 1949 in New Harmony, Indiana the son of Melvin & Jaunita (Eaton) Brooks.  While in high school Dennis met the love of his life Jacqueline “Jackie” Green, even on their first date he knew she was the one. They continued to date all through high school, and marrying soon after graduation.

Dennis proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After returning from war he worked as a maintenance man for RANCO Enterprises for 33 years.  He was a lifetime member of Amvets Post 104 in Delaware; he was also a member of the NRA. In September Dennis was able to participate in the Honor Flight to Washington D.C… Where he was able to see the Vietnam War Memorial, and honor his fallen comrades.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years Jackie (Green) Brooks; daughters Dinese (Renee) (Richard Kinney) Brooks and Christy (Chris) Morlan; granddaughter Cynthia (Corey) Johnson;  great-grandchildren Hunter James Reese, and Addie Mae; brother Duane (Paulette) Brooks; sisters Lana Long and Cheri Brokaw; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends Alan & Laura Carrigan and their children Lane and Paisley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, father & mother in-law Wayne &Betty Lust

Dennis enjoyed being in the outdoors, whether it was turkey or deer hunting, or camping in his motorhome. He was a true handyman, fixing whatever the family asked him to. He loved his daughters, granddaughter, and great- grandchildren dearly. His family will remember his as the loving hero that he was.

Celebrant Marvin Hintz will conduct a funeral service 1:00p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at the Snyder Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive, Delaware, Ohio 43015. Family and friends may call from 11:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will take place in Ashley Union Cemetery with military honors provided by the Delaware County Veterans Association.

In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed towards American Lung Association, 5900 Wilcox Place, Dublin, Ohio 43016.
