Dennis Adkins

SMITHVILLE, WEST VIRGINIA: Dennis O. Adkins, 57, of St. Maries, Idaho, died July 19, 2007 from a camping accident near Smithville, West Virginia.

Dennis was born on September 30, 1949 in Mansfield to Robert and Olvie (Adkins) Britton and was graduated from Lexington High School.

Dennis served in the Unites States Marine Corps. from 1969 to 1973 aboard the USS Holland and was a member of the United States Color Guard while stationed in Spain. Proud to serve his country, he often said that it was an honor to wear his uniform.

Residing in St. Maries, Idaho, Dennis loved the wildlife the country offered. He had a passion for hunting big game such as bear and elk. Dennis could also be found casting a line from along the shores of the Salmon River.

Dennis is survived by his daughter Alyssa Adkins of Galion; brothers and sisters-in-law Otha and Helen Adkins of Galion, Ezra and Cara Adkins of Tennessee, David and Cindi Stallard of Bellville, Steve and Becky Stallard of Bellville, Ed Stallard of Butler, and Chuck Stallard of Mansfield; sisters and brothers-in-law Olvie Britton of Lucas, Ree Rush of Mansfield, Cheryl and Don Haynes of Mansfield, and Virginia and Rick Haynes of Mansfield along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and Avis Stallard.
