Deloris Odell “Dee” Ward
November 12, 1928 ‒ February 14, 2009
Deloris Odell “Dee” Ward, age 80, of Waldo, went to be with the Lord and join hands with her husband, Chuck, on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2009,
On November 12, 1928, Dee was born in Liberty, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Harold and Delphia (Allen) Jividen.
Having met the man of her dreams, Dee married Charles E. “Chuck” Ward, on December 1, 1956, in Richmond, Indiana. As often as they could, they enjoyed “eating out” at their many favorite restaurants. After fifty one wonderful years of marriage, he preceded her in death on January 17, 2008.
A loving homemaker, Dee was proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She especially enjoyed cheering her family on at their many sporting events and activities.
A woman of deep faith, Dee was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Waldo, where she had been active in a woman’s circle in her younger days.
Whenever possible, Dee often encouraged her family to go shopping with her at any mall they could find.
Having a strong will, Dee endured over fifty years of rheumatoid arthritis with grace and few complaints.
Dee will be dearly missed by her daughter, Pam (John) Seiter of Waldo; son: Tom (Jomi) Ward of Jeffersonville; six grandchildren: Tina, Cory, Braeden, and Griffin Ward, Tara (Matt) Gist, and Jorden Seiter; two great-granddaughters: her “two little sweethearts” Rylea & Reghan Gist; brother, Alvin (Macil) Jividen of Bancroft, West Virginia; sister, Margaret Nease of Eleanor, West Virginia; brother-in-law, Jim (Vi) Ward of Waldo; three sisters-in-law: Lucille Miller of Cardington, Anna Mae Reiff of Waldo, and Mazie Jividen of Marion; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Including her parents and husband, Dee was preceded in death by four brothers: Hansel, Otis, Earnest and Kenneth Jividen.
The Ward family will greet friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Monday, February 16, at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 E. Center St., Marion. Services celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m., at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Waldo, with Pastor Dan Sander officiating. Burial will follow in Waldo Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 135 Main St., Waldo, Ohio 43356, or to Marion General Hospice, 278 Barks Rd. W., Marion, Ohio 43302.
Her family would like to extend a heartfelt “thank you” to all who have helped care for her at home.
