Delores I. “Dee” Sherman, 83, of Galion died Friday August 1, 2014 unexpectedly at home.

Born December 9, 1930 in Battle Creek, MI. she was the daughter of Walter and Ethel (Beckwith) Graham.  She married Philip L. “Speed” Sherman on December 11, 1946 and he preceded her on Sept. 21, 2001.

Dee was a graduate of Central High School in Battle Creek, MI and previously attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galion.  She was a homemaker, great baker, enjoyed collecting apples and teddy bears and she loved antiques and her great grandchildren.

She is survived by three children, Steven (Lynn) Sherman of Raleigh, NC, Kathy (Larry) Stoney of Galion and Kelly Sherman of Columbus; four grandchildren, Michelle, Amanda, Emily and Matthew; seven great-grandchildren, Tyler, Jordan, Miss Kendall, Shawn, Melonie, Mikayla and Justin and one sister, Betty Shearer.

In addition to her parents and husband she was also preceded in death by three sisters, Roma Wagner, Sally Young and Lilly Clark and two brothers, Max and Buck Graham.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, August 4, 2014 at the Snyder Funeral Home Richardson Davis Chapel in Galion where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 5, with Rev. Joe Stafford officiating.  Burial will be in Iberia Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the James Cancer Center in Columbus.

  • What a shock to hear of “Dee’s ” death. Just spoke to her a couple weeks ago about the OSU band director being fired. She loved sports, and especially OSU. Always had us laughing, will be missed. Our condolences to her family. Jack and Carole Arlen
