Delbert S. Ritzhaupt

Delbert S. Ritzhaupt, 92 of Galion passed away Thursday evening, December 17, 2015 at the Kobacker House in Columbus.
He was born July 23, 1923 in Crawford County and was the son of Glenn and Flossie (Garverick) Ritzhaupt. He married Iva Louise Britton on June 29, 1944 and they enjoyed 71 years of marriage until her recent passing on August 24, 2015.
Delbert graduated from Galion High School in 1941 and proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He worked as a department superintendent at Dominion Electric in Mansfield and later as a Tool and Die Engineer for Clark Metal Products in Marion until his retirement. Delbert was an active member of First United Church of Christ in Galion where he was on the consistory committee. In addition, he was a member of Galion Blue Lodge 414 Free and Accepted Masons and the American Legion Scarbrough Post 243 of Galion.
He is survived by children Don (Rachel Savage) Ritzhaupt of Cleveland, Tenn., Dr. Larry (Leigh Bonney) Ritzhaupt of Old Saybrook, Conn., Cathy Bomgaars of Kansas City, Mo. and Anita (Steve) Liao of Westerville; grandchildren Shannon (Christy) Ritzhaupt, Erich (Sarah) Ritzhaupt, Britton (Stokes) Carrigan and Alex, Chelsea and Ian Liao; five great grandsons and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by son-in-law Robert Bomgaars and an infant brother Clovis.
Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday January 9, 2016 at the First United Church of Christ, 248 Harding Way West, Galion, Ohio 44833 with a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 9, with Rev. Darrin Harvey officiating.
Full military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy and Galion Crestline Veterans Military Funeral Detail.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Church of Christ Endowment Fund in care of the funeral home.
