Delano L. Walker, age 73 of Sunbury passed away Friday, January 29, 2010 at Heartland of Centerburg.

He was born on April 10, 1936 in Columbus to the late Claude and Pauline (Edwards) Walker. A 1954 Big Walnut High School graduate, he was a lifelong area resident and farmer. A former member of the Sunbury Eagles and VFW Post #8736.

Delano was a kind, gentle and quiet man. He enjoyed a humorous side as a prankster and enjoyed telling a good joke or stories. A hard worker with a passion for coon hunting as well as riding horse and mules with his friends in addition to spirited challenges of tug of war. He had attended the Kenton Nationals Coon Hunting Trials for 50 consecutive years and had a coon dog that won the events dog swimming contest.

He is survived by sons: Bill (Candy) Walker and Bart (Leda) Walker all of Centerburg; 5 grandchildren: Nicole Walker, Heidi (Scott) Rice, Jim (Carol) Steed, Larry (Missy) Steed, Melissa (Tom) Murphy; 7 great grandchildren: Timmy, Skylar, Hayden, Samantha, Taylor, Amanda, Max; special friend: Ginny Weaver

He was preceded in death by brother: Burton Walker.

Friends may call Monday 5-8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 3 at 61, Sunbury where services will be held Tuesday 11:00 a.m. with Pastor JR Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Trenton Cemetery.
