Deena Arter

May 26, 1975 ‒ August 18, 2015

Centerburg, Ohio

Deena Arter, age 40, of Centerburg died late Tuesday night, August 18, 2015 at Zusman at the Ross in Columbus.

She was born on May 26th, 1975 in New Eagle, PA the daughter of Jamie (Nichols) Stout.  As a teenager, it may have taken a little while, but once it happened, Tom Stout was forever her Dad and their family was complete.  Tom and Jamie reside in Columbus.

Jamie described Deena as the “glue” that held her together, as she raised a young child as a single mother, and as Deena’s illness grew worse, the roles were reversed and Jamie became that glue.  Tom described Deena as being just like her mom.

Her “babies”, Sam, age 12, Cameron, age 9, and Rigby, age 8 were the most important part of her life.

She enjoyed camping as a family and spending time with her 3 best friends, Kendra, Cindy, and Becky; together they were the “four musketeers”.

In addition to her Mom and Dad and her children, she is survived by her best friend Joe Vermillion, and the father of her children, Bryan Arter of Centerburg.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 637 State Route 61, Sunbury, Ohio with Celebrant Don Lockwood officiating.  Friends may call from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.

The Snyder Funeral Homes are honored to handle the arrangements for Deena.

  • Deena, I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting you, but I have worked with your mother for years at Smiths Medical. She is very special to me. May you rest in peace. I hope your family finds peace during this difficult time.

  • We cannot dig down deep enough to the find the words that could comfort you and Deena’s children. But you are all in my prayers and thoughts . There is a quote I would like you to remember and think of often by Ellen Brenneman that I have always loved and feel it is so, so true:

“We can’t know why the lily has so brief a time to bloom in the warmth of sunlight’s kiss upon its face before it folds into its fragrance and bids the world good night to rest its beauty in a gentler place. But we can know that nothing that is loved is ever lost and no one who has touched a heart can really pass away because some beauty lingers on in each memory of which they’ve been a part.”

    Love you

    Pam

  • It was an honor and privilege to meet and care for Deena during her cancer battle. She fought hard and my thoughts are with you all during this difficult time. She had a wonderful family supporting her and knew you all loved her with all your hearts. Heaven has gained a new angel to now watch over you all and she will never be forgotten. We will continue to fight hard to end this horrible thing called cancer.

  • To Deena’s husband, her wonderful children, her parents, and all of her family and friends…we are so sorry for your loss. Deena touched our lives and for that we will be forever grateful. • Tom, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. Your friends at Barrington are thinking of you.

  • Please accept my deepest sympathy for your family’s loss. Since death is an enemy that rob us of the joy of being with our loved ones and hurts us so deeply, we need encouragement to cope with such difficult times. The Bible has proven to be the best source for such encouragement. The Bible at Revelation 21:1-4 helps us to appreciate that Almighty God has the power to do away with sickness and death. Also, Isaiah 33:24 states: “No resident will say: ‘I am sick.’ The blessing of God will eventually include the elimination of all suffering due to poor health. Cancer, heart trouble and all other diseases that cause humans pain and unhappiness will simply not exist. I sincerely hope that these scriptures from the Bible will bring your family much comfort and hope.

  • When I think of Deena I think Free Spirited, smiling and laughing. Deena was a very important part of my life several years ago. We spent many days together and many years working together. She taught me how to smile all the time and laugh at just about anything that life threw at you. Deena was always willing to help others and we did get ourselves into some strange predicaments trying to help others at times. She has one of the most beautiful souls of anyone I have ever known! Even though our lives led us down separate roads she has always had a very special loving place in my heart and always will. I have no doubt that Deena is with God now in Heaven with no suffering no pain. Jaimie and Tom I will continue to pray for you and her beautiful children for peace in your hearts someday.

  • My thoughts and prayers are with Tom and his family right now. Please know that the Barrington team is with you in heart and spirit.

  • My condolences go out to you and your family. Losing someone dear to you is never easy but I know that she’ll be a beautiful angel watching over your entire family.

Here is the test to find whether your mission on earth is finished:
    If you’re alive, it isn’t.
    -Richard Bach
