Debra Lori Roof, age 64, of Delaware, died peacefully on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at her home with loving family by her side.

Born June 10, 1956 in Columbus to the late Judith L. Roof.  Formerly of Galena, “Lori” was active with Creative Foundations who also cared for her.   Lori enjoyed Special Olympics Bowling, Camping at Recreation Unlimited, the Columbus Zoo and attending Columbus Blue Jackets games.

Most of all Lori loved family dinners and gatherings and special outings with her BFF Jessica McConnell.

Lori will be missed by her loving family of cousins, friends, staff and caregivers at CF.

A private graveside service will be held at Galena Cemetery, Galena, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Delaware County, 4920 SR 37 East, Delaware, OH 43015 in Lori’s memory.

  • There is soo much I can say about this amazing woman, and she will be deeply missed, but I think my biggest memory of her and something I’ll never forget is picking her up one day and her not seeing me for a few months, wheeled down the hall screaming, “Jennifer of the Jungle,” shell forever be in my heart. My condolences to her while family.

  • I am so deeply devastated, I met Lori back in 2011 she called me Dan and she was always a bright light in everyone’s life. Lori will be deeply missed. I was glad I could see her a few more times before she passed. My condolences to her family and friends. Rest easy Lori!

  • I first met Lori in 97-98 I was volunteering at church dinner service and she came in and was having trouble operating our lift at the time so I helped and we became fast friends talking about cats. I just hope she’s at peace and wish everybody the best

  • Some of Lori’s art work is displayed at The Delaware County Board of DD office where I work. Her paintings are beautiful, colorful and happy. Seeing her art brightens my day.

  • I knew Lori was someone special when I first met her at Creative Foundations back in 2018. The very last memory I had of her was back in of March of 2020, helping her paint bright colors of paint on her canvas. I also remember her Green Dino painting that will always be cherished in my heart. Heaven gained another angel who will be watching over all of us. Lori made my heart smile.

    In the early 80s went to special olempics with her and many activities. Always a positive and wonderful time. I have seen Lori through the years. Always grateful to see each other. I love you Lori. Sorry for everyone’s loss.

  • I remember Lori coming to the bowling alley. She always had a smile on her face and the sweetest laugh. What a joy she was. So sorry.

  • I want to give my condolences to the Roof family. Lori was my roommate. I remember the Bueller house holidays when we got together with everyones families. We did Delaware Special Olympics together for years.
