Deborah (Gilliland) Jessen

December 04, 1958 ‒ January 10, 2019

Bellville, Ohio

Deborah Ann (Gilliland) Jessen, age 60, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2019 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital following a brief illness.

She was born December 4, 1958 to parents Louis & Charlotte (Paul) Gilliland in Upper Sandusky and her dad, Lou, was so excited to meet Debbie that he used the sheriff cruiser to get Charlotte to the hospital as fast as possible! After Debbie was graduated from Clear Fork High School, she attended Ashland University.

While working as an assistant manager for BP oil, Debbie met a young man named Brian Jessen. After four years of dating the pair married on April 18, 1998, and together enjoyed 20 wonderful years of marriage.

Other than her family, Debbie’s number one love was a tidy yard with freshly cut grass. She was diligent with lawn maintenance and her family was often called upon to help her keep the outside of their home looking immaculate. She also enjoyed playing Facebook games and watching television shows including Law & Order SVU and Dancing with the Stars. Debbie was a former member of the Butler Lioness Club and in younger years was active with 4-H and showed horses with her sister Judy.

She is survived by her loving husband Brian Jessen of Bellville; daughter Kimberly (Gilliland) Hager of Bellville; grandchildren Cierra Gilliland, Hailey Hager, and Cameron Hager; brother Michael Gilliland of Mansfield; sister Judy Burton of Mansfield; nephew Richard Burton; niece Jasmine Estes; brother-in-law Scott Jessen; aunt Lois Stuckey and her children Bobby (Diane) and Susie all of Upper Sandusky.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lou & Charlotte Gilliland, and a niece Ashley Estes.

A memorial service honoring Debbie’s life will be held 12 noon Monday, January 14, 2019 in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Bailey officiating. Friends may call later that same evening from 5 to 7 pm at the funeral home. Burial at Zion Cemetery in Butler will occur at a later date.
