COLUMBUS: Debra Rene Hobbs, age 55, peacefully passed away Thursday, July 9, 2020, at home in Columbus where she lived with her kids, Amber and Josh.
Debbie was born on October 24, 1964, in Smyrna, Tennessee to parents Wendell & Virginia (Walters) Hobbs. She earned her associate’s degrees in education and business management from Columbus State. Debbie worked for 15+ years as a preschool teacher in Columbus.
She is survived by her daughter Amber Carter of Columbus; sons Corey Carter and Joshua Saylor both of Columbus; dad and stepmom Wendell & Shirley Hobbs of Lexington; stepmom Jinny Hacker of Mansfield; numerous grandchildren including Makiyah & Gavin Fields and Brantley & Addyson Carter; siblings Lisa Huml and Mike (Becca) Hobbs; stepsister Jennifer Moon; nephews Nicholas Huml and Braham Huml; and nieces Charlie Hobbs and Lucy Hobbs.
Debbie was preceded in death by her mom Virginia (Walters) Hobbs in 1970.
Her family will have a private viewing time 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home in Mansfield. Burial will be Thursday, July 16, 2020, in Oak Grove Memorial Park near Lexington. Arrival time at the cemetery will be approximately 12:15 PM and the service will be in the mausoleum.
