Deanna E. Godby

January 30, 1972 ‒ April 19, 2017

Sunbury, Ohio

Deanna Eileen Godby, age 45 of Galena, went to her heavenly home on April 19, 2017.

She was born January 30, 1972 to the late Michael White and Brenda (Corwin) White Smith of Sunbury. Deanna was a 1990 graduate of Big Walnut High School and was a member of Sunbury VFW Post #8736 Women’s Auxiliary. She was a longtime employee with 22 years of service to Green Meadows Veterinary Clinic of Lewis Center.

Deanna attended the Fathers House Church in Delaware.  She enjoyed gardening, traveling, and riding her motorcycle with friends and family.  Handy with a hammer she was always doing home improvement projects.  Dependable and thoughtful, she was loyal to her circle and helpful in every way.  She also took pleasure in planning family gatherings.

A wonderful mother and wife, she was most proud of her children. She and her husband looked forward to date night on Fridays and doing the rounds in Sunbury.  She was at her best surrounded by her family and enjoyed sunsets on her porch swing alongside her husband.

She is survived by her loving husband, Russell Godby; children: Samantha and Logan Godby; sister Shari (Michael) Wilson of Sunbury; brother Luke (Joyce) White of Sunbury, grandmother Edna “Inky” Corwin; several cousins, nieces, nephews; and many doctors, work associates, and friends.

In addition to her father she was also preceded in death by grandparents Junior and Juanita White and step-father George Smith.

Friends may call from 3-5 p.m. Sunday at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 637 N. St. Rt. 61, Sunbury where a celebration of Deanna’s life will follow at 5:00 p.m. with Pastor Mike Sanders officiating.  A gathering with refreshments will then immediately follow at the Sunbury VFW Post, 435 McGill St., Sunbury, Ohio 43074 in continued celebration.

In lieu of flowers, Deanna desired for memorial contributions to be made to the “Samantha and Logan Godby College Fund”, c/o PNC Bank, 107 W. Cherry St., Sunbury, Ohio 43074.

  • I have been acquainted with Dee for the past five years, through a business relationship. It was always a delight to talk to Dee and it was always she who encouraged my daughter, who worked with her , and myself through the death of our pets, as well as the death of my husband. Very few people can light up a room when they enter. Few people seem selfless and encouraging though they are going through trials themselves. Well, Dee was that person. How special and genuine she was!! And her faith in the Lord quickly became an inspiration to everyone she met. I feel it an honor and privilege to have known her briefly. May the Lord bring the supernatural peace to her family that passes all understanding.

  • We are all so very sorry to hear about Dee De. Are Thoughts and Prayers are with her and all those who loved her. May God bring all Peace. The Marcum’s
