David Thurlow Cass, 89, of Mt. Gilead, died Wednesday December 8, 2004 at his residence.
He was born in Iberia, Ohio on January 26, 1915, the son of the late Ward and Laura Christman Cass. He was a graduate of the Iberia H.S. Class of 1933, and had been a farmer his entire life.
He served in the Army National Guard Reserves.
He was a member of the Pleasant Grove Church of Christ, the Ohio Waggoneers, Ohio Wagon Train, United Wagon Train, Ohio Horsemen’s Council, Morrow Co. Conservation Club, Morrow Co. Farm Bureau, a past president of the Johnsville School Board, and a 4H advisor. He also attended the Lexington Senior Center.
His wife, the former Naomi R. Lepp Cass, whom he married on October 30, 1935, preceded him in death on December 26, 1989.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law James & Nonna Cass of Havre, MT.; his four daughters and sons-in-law Nancy & Don Jesson of Johnsville, Frances & David Cover of Edison, Dayle & Harold Lambert of Johnsville, and Janet & John Johnson of Johnsville; brother Paul Cass of Ekalaka, MT; 15 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and numerous step great-grand children.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a grandson Eric Jesson, his three brothers Gill, Burton & Chester and his two sisters Nellie Flowers and Eudene Reed.
Friends may call at the Snyder Funeral Home, Mt Gilead on Friday December 10th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Ray Linn will hold services there on Saturday at 1 p.m. with grandsons Traber Cass and Andrew Jesson assisting. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park, Lexington.
